Condo
They're finishing things up now. There are two residences per floor, 8 total in the building (220 square meters each). We're on the 4th floor (including the bottom) on the side the picture was taken from. That open window is ours. The place below ours is being completely renovated. Anyway:

That looks like a ginormous living space from the outside.

I like the color of your building very much.
But.
Don't they have suburbs?
I hate sharing walls and floors with other people.
I'd rather live in a trailer than a nice apartment, controlling for crime and tornados.

If you mean houses, those are mostly further inland and/or up in the mountains above the city. These buildings are made of concrete and steel and there's an elevator and stairwell between the units. You don't hear the neighbor(s) at all, and you only hear the people above you if they're moving heavy furnature and drop it. Although I have never lived in or even been to a trailer park, I am guessing I'd rather live here, controlling or not controlling for anything.

It does look huge- what do you have there? 2 or 3 bedrooms? How many sq. feet (or meters, I'm bi-measural)? What does an apartment go for there?

3 bed, 2 bath, 220 square meters which is about 2350 square feet. We pay 1000 Euro/month which is about $1550. Is that comparable to the US? I don't even remember.

That is just a little smaller than my house. Something that size in DC would rent for about $3,000.

Our house in Missoula is 2550 feet, with 6 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. It may become 4 bedrooms because I am contemplating turning the 2 basement bedrooms into 1 large home theater/bar area. Mortgage + taxes it is costing us $1,525 a month.

Hey, at least it's the Redneck Riviera and not SICILY!

Looks like your sanitation union is on strike again!

That's a good-sized condo, though. Bigger than my house in fact.

That was the construction mess. It's gone today.
